Chronicle 19 is an independent LGBTQ+ publication sharing stories, ideas and experiences from around the world.
We cover the topics that shape LGBTQ+ lives: news, culture, travel, lifestyle, identity, community and the people behind the stories.
Our goal is simple: to create a place where LGBTQ+ people can find stories that reflect their experiences, while giving everyone the opportunity to better understand the diverse lives and perspectives within our communities.
Why Chronicle 19?
The name carries both history and purpose.
Chronicle 19 is the international sister publication of Dezanove.pt, a Portuguese LGBTQ+ publication built around the same belief that stories matter and that communities are strengthened when people can share their experiences.
The number 19 comes from Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which recognises the right of every person to freedom of opinion and expression, including the freedom to seek, receive and share information and ideas through any media and across borders.
For us, this principle is at the heart of what a publication should do: allow people to tell stories, exchange ideas and discover perspectives beyond their own.
The word Chronicle reflects our purpose: to document, share and preserve the stories that shape LGBTQ+ lives around the world.
Keeping the 19 was about keeping that meaning alive: the belief that stories connect people, information should cross borders, and every community deserves to be heard.
Stories that matter
The LGBTQ+ experience is not one single story.
It includes people from different countries, generations, cultures and backgrounds. It includes moments of celebration, challenges still being faced, achievements worth recognising and everyday experiences that deserve to be shared.
Chronicle 19 aims to reflect that diversity.
