The acclaimed HBO financial drama is adding two familiar faces to its cast as it heads into its fifth and final season.
Russell Tovey and Ben Platt are joining the cast of Industry, HBO’s acclaimed drama about ambition, power and survival in the world of high finance.
The casting announcement, made in September 2026, comes as the series prepares to conclude with its fifth and final season.
Two new characters enter the world of Industry
Russell Tovey, known for his roles in Looking and Years and Years, will play Declan P. Davis, the deputy to Nikesh Shah, a left-wing politician portrayed by Bally Gill.
Ben Platt, the actor and singer known for Dear Evan Hansen and The Politician, will portray Matt Crenshaw, a venture capitalist and early investor in a wellness technology company.
Their characters are expected to introduce new connections to the political and financial worlds that define the series.
A final season for HBO’s acclaimed drama
Created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, Industry follows a group of young professionals navigating the intense pressures of London’s financial sector.
The series has developed a dedicated audience through its exploration of class, ambition, workplace power and personal relationships, while featuring LGBTQ+ characters and storylines.
The fifth season will be the show’s last. Production is underway in the United Kingdom, although HBO has not yet announced an official premiere date.
With Russell Tovey and Ben Platt joining the cast, the final chapter of Industry is set to bring new characters and perspectives to a series that has consistently blurred the boundaries between professional ambition and personal identity.
The final season is coming. The question is how these new players will change the game.
