Romeo Beckham makes his film debut in Forty Love, a steamy French gay tennis romance where sporting rivalry turns into unexpected attraction.

Romeo Beckham is making quite the entrance into the acting world. The 24-year-old son of David and Victoria Beckham stars in the upcoming gay romance Forty Love, and its newly released trailer features him sharing a passionate kiss with his male co-star.

The former footballer and fashion model plays a charismatic tennis player who becomes both the sporting rival and romantic interest of Sacha Gallo, portrayed by French actor Paul Kircher.

The trailer gives audiences their first proper glimpse of Beckham’s acting abilities, showing him in intimate scenes with Kircher, including passionate embraces, kisses, and moments of intense sexual tension. Their relationship appears to swing between attraction and hostility, promising a complicated romance both on and off the tennis court. Sounds like Heated Rivalry meets Match Point.

It’s a significant career change for Beckham, who previously followed in his famous father’s footsteps by pursuing professional football, including a spell with Brentford’s B team. He subsequently established himself in the fashion industry, modelling for major brands including Balenciaga, Burberry, and Yves Saint Laurent.

Now, with his first major film role, Romeo is stepping into an entirely different spotlight — and one that puts him firmly at the centre of an LGBTQ+ love story.

The film follows Sacha, a promising 21-year-old tennis player who has spent his life training under his father’s guidance in pursuit of a major title in Paris. However, the arrival of Beckham’s character threatens to derail his ambitions as their competitive rivalry develops into something considerably more personal.

Directed by fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti, Forty Love also features Guillaume Canet, Benjamin Voisin, and Catherine Deneuve.

For Beckham, whose career has already taken him from professional football to high-fashion modelling, the film represents another unexpected reinvention. Whether this marks the beginning of a serious acting career remains to be seen, but his choice of debut role certainly isn’t a conventional one.

Forty Love arrives in French cinemas on November 25, 2026, with international release dates still to be announced.

French cinema at its best. And I have a feeling I won’t be paying much attention to the subtitles.
